Favourite Transmog Sets : Death Knight Edition

My Death Knight is one of my favourite alts. She makes farming dungeons a breeze, with her Howling Blast of doom. I also enjoy player dress-up with her, even though she doesn't like it all that much.

Like a lot of people, I'm fond of the class' starter gear, which can be bought back in Ebon Hold, but I wanted to use some more fancy gear sets for her. I was able to get my hands on one set of each color (blue, red and  green, for all three of the Death Knight's specs.) and even a second blue one. They might not be very original, but I love these sets nonetheless.

Blood

This set is, by far, my favourite. It is the DK's tier 12 set. I got it while I was raiding in Firelands, what feels like a lifetime ago. The boots drops in Firelands or can be crafted, and the belt can be bought for gold at honored reputation with the Avengers of Hyjal. Although the boots are Bind on Equip, so you might be able to grab them on the Auction House. Here, I am using two heroic Obsidium Cleaver.

Even though I don't have a blood spec at the moment, I do like to sport this set when I dps. I use the Hellscream's Reach Tabard (which can be bought with 40 Tol Barad Commendations when you reach honored reputation with the faction) simply because I think the colors match really well together.

Unholy

This one is my latest "acquisition". I had most of the pieces since my time in Firelands. Having six bosses on heroic mode on farm for a while, I was able to upgrade most of my gear to heroic versions of the previous set, except for the chest. I thought I had deleted it by accident, but no, I just never got the token off Alysrazor. So I went to the Auction House to find something to match this color. The Adamantite Breastplate looked perfect, but was a bit too expensive for my taste, so I farmed the ore and the primals myself, and had my blacksmith craft it.

For the belt, I used the Acherus Knight's Girdle, which is invisible. It saved me the trouble of finding one that matched, as there are no existing belt for this particular set. The heroic version of the boots does exist however, and drops off Beth'tilac. Unlike the normal version, the heroic ones are not Bind on Equip.

Her two-hander mace, which can't be seen well on the above picture, is the Pit Lord's Destroyer

Frost
This set is the first set I ever "created" for my DK. It is mostly the DK's tier 11 set, with Pauldrons of the Great Ettin (which are a warrior tier shoulders lookalike, I believe), Belt of the Ferocious Wolf, and Woe Breeder's Boots. It was the first set my DK used, and I like the feel of it. I use the Frostwolf  Battle Tabard with, because I love the colors. I want to eventually get the tier shoulders, since they would fit a lot better, but I lack the motivation to go back in Bastion of Twilight to try to get it.

Frost 2.0

Last but not least is gear from Dragon Soul, tier 13. I didn't like this set all that much at first, but it grew on me. Here I am using mostly pieces from the normal version, except for the belt and gloves, which are from the Raid Finder, and the boots were bought with Valor Points. Her weapons here are two Hand of Morchok.

There are a couple other plate sets I love, but I use them on my paladin.

But that is for another post.

Quick Post : Finally

The Black Stalker finally dropped the last piece my hunter needed for her latest transmog outfit.

I didn't like the shoulder from the original set, so I'm using these shoulders instead, as well as the gloves from the same set. The bow is the Charmed Ancient Bone Bow as I think it fits well with the "barbarian" kind of look of this set.

Patience wearing thin

Cassie the pally finally managed to get some plate pieces to drop from random HoT heroics this weekend, and reached an item level of 374. She had no luck for days, and then one day almost everything dropped for her, and she was able to queue for the Raid Finder. Her dps isn't as good as I'd like it to be, but I didn't get thrown out of a raid so far, and she always managed to stay in the middle of the pack, dps-wise. We did wipe several times on Ultraxxion, which was totally sad, but it wasn't because of my somewhat low dps, but because of people not being able to press a button at the right moment.

Nonetheless, Cassie got some nice tier shoulders and new boots out of RF Dragon Soul. Now all she'd need would be a trinket, a belt, and possibly another piece of tier so she can get her two set bonus, which makes her judgement give holy power as well. That would be a nice improvement, considering I still struggle with keeping Inquisition up (refreshing it too soon is something I'd like to work on) and using her cooldowns as efficiently as possible. (which I'm getting better at, but generating holy power faster would definitely be a plus.)

I was very happy when Pit Lord Destroyer dropped for her from Well of Eternity, as she was still rockin' an axe from Zul'Aman. Plus, I think it looks really good. I think I might start looking for a transmog set that will match with it. Her gear looks like hell at the moment, as I haven't transmogged it at all since level 80 or so. I'm waiting to see if I can get her some gear in the Raid Finder tomorrow before I go and transmog her, though.

Cassie has also started running Magister's Terrace daily to gain rep with the Shattered Sun Offensive, and for a chance at the mount. It's a lot of fun to gather whole rooms at a time and Divine Storm all the things.

The hunter is still running daily Underbog as well to try and get her last piece of the Giantstalker recolor set. The pants are the last piece missing, and it's been eluding her for days.Hopefully she will get lucky soon. I'm enjoying the daily routine of Sethekk Halls, Underbog, Magister's Terrace, cooking/fishing dailies that I'm rockin' at the moment with a couple characters, but I'm eager to get it all done and just casually level my lock or something for a while. My shaman still needs to reach level 85, and then the grind for gear and leather will start all over again.

There really needs to be some kind of MoP announcement sometime soon. I'm trying really hard to keep myself busy with stuff in and outside of WoW, but I have very little patience to begin with.

Favourite transmog sets : Hunter Edition

My hunter is one of my favourite characters, so of course I had to go and find some good transmog outfits for her. I found it hard though to find sets that I really loved. It felt like the cloth classes have a lot more options than the mail ones. These are my favourite mail sets so far.

This is a PvP set from the Burning Crusade Era. I farmed a lot of honor for it, and it was a pain, since I hate PvP with a burning passion. But I kept going. It was for a good cause, after all. However, the matching boots and belt are not available in game anymore. So I looked on the AH and bought some "somewhat" matching pieces, but they do clash a bit (a lot). It was the best I could do at the time. For the belt, I used Ebonhold Girlde and the Pack-Ice Striders for the boots (not shown), which you can buy for JP in Dalaran. You could probably use the Ebonhold Boots, and it would probably be a better match. They are a bit expensive on the AH though, so you might want to farm it.

I've always wanted this black set, as there aren't many black mail sets, except maybe for the Ebonhold Mail that is pretty damn hard to farm and usually very expensive on the Auction House.

This set is a mix-and-match of a couple sets. I found the pants on the Auction House and I just knew I needed to use it for a transmog set. It was sexy and gorgeous. I didn't love the whole Battleforge set (and it was way too expensive anyway, and I didn't feel like farming it all, I'm so lazy, and this parenthesis needs more commas in my opinion), so I looked for replacement pieces. So here's what I used.

Polearm : Hellion Glaive (not shown)

I love the colors, and I love how sexy it makes my hunter. I know there are a gazillion other hunters out there looking just like that, but I don't care. Naesa loves to wear this outfit, and will cheer at anyone she sees wearing the same! The bow is one of my favourites, and I actually use it with other sets, even if it doesn't always fit. It's just so gorgeous.

I farmed this set in BC dungeons. It took me two days of farming. I didn't like the boots that were suggested, so I got another model on the Auction House, that I feel matches very well with the outfit. The polearm I use with this set is the Sonic Spear, which drops off Murmur in the Shadow Labyrinths.

The fourth and last set is the 25man version of the hunter's tier 10 set from ICC. This was one of the first set I got, back at the end of WotLK. With this, I use Zod's Repeating Longbow.

I guess I'm just too picky, but I wish I could find more mail outfits that I love. My poor hunter is feeling so neglected compared to my mage. If you have great mail outfits that can be used for hunters, let me know! Happy transmogging!

I think I've become a hoarder

I think I'm going a little crazy with the transmog thing.

I blame Mad for this. Just a little. It all started when Mad decided to come back to WoW. He created a rogue, and ever since, he's been questing his ass off, or scanning the auction house a lot to find the perfect set for his rogue lady. Which made me want to do the same.

Except I have a shitload of toons already. And he has two. His priest is already mogged up in a way that he likes, and his rogue's set is almost complete. Most of the pieces he needed came from quests. Me? Well, I've been on the lookout for a lot of pieces to finish up my 10ish uncompleted sets. Which are mostly all rare and expansive. >.>

I've been going back and forth between the old and new server to try and catch the lowest prices. Because mogging really is expensive. I've farmed some stuff, either in the world or in dungeons (which is the very fun part btw, running dungeons that is) but mostly I've been buying it off the AH. I've been pretty lucky on some pieces that I got at really low prices.

I'm having fun picking which sets I want for each of my toons, but some part of me is yelling : Stop spending your munies!! Want moar munies!!!

I don't exactly listen to the voice anymore. Because I want ALL THE PRETTIES.

I'm not broke. Far from it. But I'm not rich either. I had finally reached 100k a while back, but when Mad came back to the game, I gave him half of my "fortune". Because I love him. And he had a sad face when he realized he had only 10k left.

I'm also starting to have some trouble storing it all. My banks are full, my bags are full, even my personal guild bank is full of greens and blues. So I started using void storage. OMFG this shit is expensive!! At 25g a piece, I've already spent something like 3k gold just storing items I didn't want to use anytime soon. Because I can't sell it. What if I need it for a transmog set someday?

Hi. My name is Lyr, and I'm a hoarder.

My mage's favourite transmog sets

My mage has the most transmog sets of all my characters, and she doesn’t have that many.  She has lots of pieces that look great, but not enough to form complete sets. These are my favourite sets so far.

The first one is the priest’s tier 10 heroic version. As I am a mage, I have to use the look alike items that drop from ICC 25H.  As you can see, I have no shoulders that fit with this set, as there are no look alike for these shoulders. Someday I will find something to complete this look.
The second set is the mage’s tier 7.5 that drops from Naxx 25 and Obsidium Sanctum 25. The belt isn’t part of the original set and can be farmed or bought on the Auction House.
The third set is the mage’s Relentless Gladiator PvP gear from WotLk. You can buy it from the JP vendor in Dalaran. The belt I use drops off Kael’thas in Magister’s terrace. There’s also another belt that looks fairly good with this set and can be farmed or bought off the Auction House.
The fourth set is the priest’s tier 10. Yet again, this is the look alike items, which can be bought off the JP vendor in Dalaran as well. The shoulders aren’t part of the original set, but the Warlock’s tier 9 shoulders look alike. They can also be bought for JP in Dal. (However, if you go Alliance, those shoulders change and no longer fit with this set.)
The fifth set comes (in part) from Black Temple. The helm and robes are spirit cloth that drop in the raid. I found the shouldersgloves  and belt on the Auction House. The gloves are black and small, and can be used with other sets that require discreet gloves.
The last set consists of the mage’s tier 5, except for the gloves and bracers, which I bought on the Auction House.
There’s a lot more set I want to get, like the mage’s tier 4, which looks like this:
The chest’s token drops off Magtheridon’s Lair, the shoulders drops from Gruul’s lair, and the gloves can be found in Karazhan. (I haven't figured out which belt I will be using with this yet, so in this screenshot, Jori is wearing the one that drops from Tempest Keep and matches the mage's tier 5.) Happy transmogging!
